Tona Sense
SENSE by TONA reimagines vanity design for high-end villas, mansions, and hotels through China’s <干湿分离> philosophy: basin, storage, and mirror all hover on the wall, erasing floor crevices where moisture breeds mould and simplifying daily cleaning. Styled after Pininfarina's automotive and Princess Yacht lines, the cabinet’s fluid, aerodynamic shell captures a “still-moving” moment. Sense has been awarded “Best of KBC 2023” at Kitchen & Bath China.

I. Background
Princess Yachts, penned by Pininfarina, are prized for sleek, flowing profiles that evoke motion on water. SENSE translates that geometry to the bathroom: its basin mirrors a yacht hull, the curved edge guiding water smoothly to the drain. The collection’s name—“Sense”—highlights the tactile intent; every surface invites touch and simplifies cleaning. DuPont™ Corian® was selected for seamless joins, marble-like clarity, and natural warmth, keeping the basin comfortable even in winter. By combining a nautical form with advanced material engineering, SNSE delivers disciplined elegance and everyday practicality to premium interiors.

II. Field Research
Xilinmen’s Songjiang Keshang showroom is Shanghai’s benchmark for premium bathware, displaying flagship pieces from Alessi, Kohler, Grohe, Duravit, and Roca. During our on-site study we spoke with sales specialists about best-sellers and tracked emerging preferences. Findings: sculptural contours and refined textures now lead demand, while fluid, uninterrupted lines signal luxury.

Field studies in users’ homes revealed that, beyond visual appeal, the vanity must actively promote order. Ample, intelligible storage—clearly zoned for hair-dryer, warm towels, cosmetics, and other high-frequency items—is indispensable. Multiple purpose-built compartments and smooth pull-out drawers give every tool an obvious, reachable place, trimming countertop clutter and search time. These insights set our brief: function orchestrates form, and elegance flows from intuitive organisation.

III. Concept 1
Refines the existing basin with added function. A lengthened rectangular bowl sits above generous storage drawers, easing clutter. Its subtly curved fascia, achieved through advanced wood-bending, recalls automotive surfacing. Dual mirrors serve distinct user routines—one optimized for women, one for men—reflecting our research into differing grooming needs.

IV. Concept 2
Our field visits showed parents piling stools so children could reach the tap; we instead sculpted the worktop into two elevations. A sweeping marble ribbon dips to child height, then crests into an adult basin, its illuminated edge tracing the change in level. The lower plane can remain a wash platform or be swapped later for a second basin as needs evolve. Generous drawers beneath keep shared essentials at arm’s-length, making a simple height shift a lifelong solution.

V. Concept 3
Inspired by nautical design. Its basin sweeps like a yacht deck yet resolves into a ‘squircle’—capturing water’s poised geometry and standing apart at a glance. A recessed ledge hides LEDs, letting the form float, luminous even from afar. Function stays on course: a deep side cabinet and full-extension drawers marshal toiletries with shipshape efficiency, turning wall and slender plinth into generous stowage. Thus storage and silhouette co-author a vanity that is both icon and instrument.

We also work closely with the floor plan to ensure that the size fits within the bath space. This includes visioning what is needed/included and thinking about the theme, layout and tangible feeling to provide the user.

VI. Launch on Market
The client immediately endorsed Concept 03—its sculpted contour, cohesive narrative, and artistic clarity struck the perfect chord. Once approved for production, I partnered closely with the engineering team to translate the vision into manufacturable detail. We also worked on designing the entire bathroom space using the "<干湿分离> philosophy: basin, storage, and mirror all hover on the wall. This is an rendered image of how we envision the new bath ware space to be integrated

Vanity is far more just a single set. To complete the design, we used the "floating" theme language throughout the entire bath ware design. This is illustrated through the wall mounted feature and the transparency with Dupont Corian texture.

Physical Product is manufactured and displayed at KBC Exhibition 2023 (Kitchen-Bath Exhibition) in Shanghai. We followed with their engineers and worked on details such as selecting models for hinge, coating the laminated exterior layers for the cabinets, selecting the CMF for the basin and working on molding formation for the Corian material.

Official Launch of the Tona Sense vanity set. Full set price starts at ¥100,000 ($ 13955.95) and single vanity for ¥6,199 ($ 865.13)
