Sunsitt
Signature
Freestyle furniture aimed to redefine traditional outdoor furniture by incorporating aluminum and biodegradable fabric while maintaining an Italian aesthetic. The final Freestyle design combines the best of our three into one clear visual. A single aluminum band flows from armrest to base, lifting the cushions and outlining an unmistakable “N” profile in side view—both structure and signature.

I. Background
Pininfarina has long set the benchmark for outdoor furniture, fusing sculpted comfort with aluminium profiles that fluidly reconcile hard metal and soft form—an innovation first showcased in icons like the Reflex sofa and Higold’s Onda series. The resulting language of quiet luxury and endurance resonates strongly in North America and Europe, where distributor SunSitt now seeks to launch its own brand, Freestyle. Inspired by the Onda’s debut at the Milan Fair, SunSitt engaged us to craft a new outdoor collection and visual identity that carries Pininfarina’s timeless poise into a youthful brand narrative, ready to differentiate itself on a global stage.

II. Furniture Set
Three early sketches probe how aluminum can both structure and characterize Freestyle. Concept A (right) uses a continuous, ribbon-like frame that sweeps from seat to backrest, unifying form and function while framing teak arm inserts. Concept B (center) introduces a graphic V-brace that cleaves light and dark volumes; the arm cushion folds over the metal to shield users from heat, fusing comfort with contrast. Concept C (left) pursues visual lightness: slender aluminum bands skim around the cushions and support a wood-and-glass shelf, creating an almost weightless silhouette.

The final Freestyle design combines the best of our three into one clear visual. A single aluminum band flows from armrest to base, lifting the cushions and outlining an unmistakable “N” profile in side view—both structure and signature. This ribbon lightens the visual mass, while teak arm inlays temper the metal’s touch. Cushions remain deep and modular for lounge-level comfort, and the open frame keeps the ensemble visually buoyant against poolside or terrace backdrops. Form, function, and brand identity converge in one confident line.

III. Technical Drawings

The chair mirrors the collection’s ribbon language: a continuous aluminium sweep unites backrest, arm, and leg, giving the piece its structural integrity and signature profile. To solve the demanding arm-to-seat junction, we introduced a slim transverse bar concealed beneath the cushion for added strength. Where the metal wraps over the arm, a shallow recess in the leather upholstery removes any ridge, ensuring a flat, comfortable resting surface.

IV. Outdoor Chair Design
Details of the design that uses the same "ribbon" design language as on the outdoor set.
