Fotile Miboi developed Floor Washer series V9 leading sales in the chinese market. The client approached us with Chief Engineering team from Tsinghua University to innovate V12 Pro series with brand new "centrifugal" functionality and user experience.

I. Background
Miboi, part of Fotile, is the leading consumer brand in China. They have partnered with Pininfarina and Tsinghua University Engineering to co-develop an brand new product line targeting steam-wash floor appliance.
II. Concept Ideation
The concept focus on integrating three crucial component for chinese household cleaning. Vacuum, Floor Wash and Steam Mode. These three mode provides more customizability to adapt Chinese household environment.
III. Design Sketches
Some sketches we began in the ideation stage. We integrated our concept of Vacuum, Wash and Steam in one appliance. This was further discussed with engineers to check feasibility and constaint.
IV. Engineering
The entire CAD was modeled in Solidworks and internal structure was modeled in PTC Creo. Through this project, I grasp deeper understanding of surface modeling in relation to assembling different components.
V. Main Body
The main body follows can ribbon from the handle to the back of the body. The stained water container is stored in the back rear and the detergent water is stored at the top. Designing this way allows the weight to be balanced and minimize the strain on hand when placed horizontally.
Pro series features an transparent detergent tank that user can visualize the clean effect while the machine is functioning. This provide immediate gratification to visualize how the machine functions.
VI. Base Station
Instead of just designing an anchor point, we focused on designing a docking station. This station connects directly to the clean & stain pipe, to reduce the user’s action of manually changing water.
VII. Prototype
Using a CNC machine, we fabricated a one-to-one scale production model. This is used to perform A/B testing with the user to evaluate the category of ergonomic, function, aesthetic, and cost. As lead designer, I guided the project across all phases—from form exploration and CMF detailing to cross-functional collaboration with engineers, manufacturing experts, and tool specialists.
IX. Product Market Launch
The Final Product is launched on Chinese Market during the "618 JD" Promotional Day. Miboi V12 reached record breaking sales, amounting to more than 2million sales unit during the week timeframe. This project has defined the new product functionality and identity for future Miboi series.
